![]() ![]() ![]() 35M school sucks but it isn't as long as 35N school (and is more interesting). At 35P school they treat you like an adult, as everyone has been in the army for about 2 years by the time you get there. They treat you like shit the whole time too. I've seen smart people come out of the program noticably stupider. One more thing, the 35N school is mind-numbingly tedious and 6 months long. If you are interested in that route, consider 35M, as HUMINT provides more job opportunities, unless you want to work for the NSA, in which case you should go 35P. If you do well in your language you can probably get a job with a government contractor or three letter agency for a lot more money. You can always activate when you finish your training, if you so desire, but you also have a lot more freedom. In active duty, you are subject to "needs of the military." If you join the reserve, you are signing up for a specific slot. If you want to choose your language, the only choice (across all branches) is to go army reserve. Try to go for a Cat IV languaeg though, otherwise you won't be there for long. Definitely go to DLI, it is a great experience. You can go as HUMINT too (35M), but I'd recommend 35P. btw, 35P and 35N go to Goodfellow, not Huachuca. The only way to get 35N with a language (without pulling some serious strings) is to go to DLI as 35X (unspecified signals) and fail out of class, at which point they send you to be a 35N instead of 35P. ![]() How was MOS training? How was DLI? What's your typical day like in garrison and/or deployed? What duty stations would I possibly get and what are they like? Do you like your MOS or wish you'd done something else?ģ5M here, with language (Mandarin). if the Army can't give me what I'm looking for in terms of school, I will be looking at other branches. Linguists and SIGINT analysts from other branches feel free to jump in here. I've scoured other military forums and I'm leaning towards 35NL right now but I'd love to hear from anybody in these MOSes. Huachuca for MOS school, then DLI, then duty station? Or do I go to duty station then wait for language school? What's the timeline of training? Go to Ft. I want to attend DLI for a language, from my research if you go 35P you're definitely going to language school, but for 35N with language. I'm planning on returning to the good ol' Army and trying to decide between 35P Cryptologic Linguist or 35NL Signal Intelligence Analyst with Language. r/army /r/navy /r/usmc /r/uscg /r/airforce r/nationalguard r/airnationalguard/ /r/britishmilitary /r/CanadianForces /r/AustralianMilitary /r/TheRoyalNavy /r/Bundeswehr More Related Subreddits If you have a general enquiry or would like to find out more, call 07 or email Subreddits They offer free Paradigm therapeutic programs to those most in need within the UK.
